Everything Is Back To Normal – Banks Are Lending Again

Mixed in among popular world events happening this week like Britney Spears turning 30, the Chinese pig who can walk on his front legs, and a 46-year-old duck hunter in Utah who was shot in the behind with his own shotgun by his hunting dog companion, was all the irrational optimism and excitement surrounding the biggest rally in the stock markets since March 2009. Markets around the world rallied through a coordinated effort by the Fed, the ECB, and four other central banks, to boost liquidity by making it cheaper for banks to borrow U.S. dollars. The idea is to get banks to borrow more money and then lend it out to households and businesses to “foster economic activity.” Even bank stocks rallied despite a credit rating downgrade by Standard & Poor’s. Yes, 15 major banks had their credit ratings downgraded on Tuesday yet their stock prices rallied on this plan to motivate banks to lend money to the little people.

Everything Is Back To Normal – People Are Shopping Again

The icing on the cake of excitement was the greatest Black Friday weekend in shopping history. Over 226 million shoppers apparently still have some room left on their credit cards to buy stuff they don’t need and some even went out shopping for it at midnight. Braving over-zealous rent-a-cops just waiting to brutally slam someone’s face to the floor in a Wal-Mart and little old ladies pepper-spraying other shoppers to gain an advantage in line, shopaholics spent over $52 billion in one weekend. Santa is impressed.

Everything Is Back To Normal – And Markets Are Rallying

German Chancellor Angela Merkel also made a speech pushing for “tighter rules on government spending” that helped to fan the flames of irrational exuberance – driving world markets higher. She said the 17 countries that use the Euro must “quickly” restore market confidence by making their financial controls stricter. As if Europe’s teetering economy could be fixed quickly by paying more attention to spending. Apparently, controlling your spending is not what helps an economy grow. European governments need to take a lesson from those Black Friday shoppers and just shop ’til you drop – then ask for another bailout. If none of those banks that are “boosting liquidity” want to loan you any more money, then cry default, go back to printing your old money, eating your pita sandwiches and drinking your retsina.

Top it all off with a jobs market report that shows the U.S. is “shrugging off the global economic downturn and fears about the collapse of the Euro-zone” and you have all the ingredients for  happy pie ala mode. And if all this available money, latest tech gadgets, and your new job doesn’t make for fabulous holidays, you’re just resisting  the mood of the season. And it’s even going to get better next year if you listen to the media.

Mid-strife Crisis For Europe

Europe is having a mid-strife crisis.  The G-20 was supposed to come to France this week to address the problems of the international monetary system, banking regulations, bailouts, unemployment, safe food and water, declining growth, corruption, and if they have some time left over in their 2-day meeting, maybe they’ll tackle global warming. What they will be greeted with however, is political instability in the region, countries defaulting on their debt, and the Euro economy falling into recession or worse.  On top of that, everyone is protesting. It seems citizens don’t like growing financial inequality, not having jobs, corruption, high food prices, governments not being able to manage themselves, and austerity measures imposed by the Germans in order to get bailout money. Who would have known?

Mid-strife Crisis – Those Darned Greeks

It seems that the Greek people may not be as excited about the proposed bailout arrangement as the crafters of the scheme are. Greek’s Prime Minister, George Papandreou, suggested a referendum to let the people decide if the austerity measures that would be imposed are worth it to keep Greece afloat. Although the media won’t call it a default, Greek debt already had a 50% “haircut” and received about $150 billion to support a broke Greek economy.

Mid-strife Crisis – Brokers Crumbling

MF Global, a leading commodities brokerage firm headed by Jon Corzine, the former CEO and Chairman of the most powerful government agency in America – Goldman Sachs – filed for bankruptcy this week. Apparently, they lost all their money backing Euro debt and when they lost all their money, they “borrowed” their clients money and lost that too. According to their web site, MF Global is dedicated to “helping our clients discover and capitalize on market opportunities” and we do this through our “indispensable, well-timed insight, forward-thinking, and unwavering vision.” Was it their “vision” to gamble away hundreds of millions of dollars of their clients’ money? From their Code of Business Conduct and Ethics page at their web site, MF Global has agreed to “promote honest and ethical conduct, including fair dealing and the ethical handling of conflict of interests” to “promote full, fair, accurate, timely and understandable disclosure in reports” and here’s the funny part, to “deter wrongdoing.” Today it was announced that the lead regulator investigating the crimes of the firm is Gary Gensler, the Chairman of the Commodities Futures Trading Commission, who worked for Mr. Corzine for 18 years at Goldman Sachs and are members of the “Old Buddies” Club. So much for conflicts of interest.

Mid-strife Crisis – Dead Banks Walking

Banks and brokers of “honest and ethical conduct” who bought Greek debt were offered 50 cents on the dollar for their “investment.” All were shocked while others like MF Global, went into financial cardiac arrest and died. Civil unrest and violent protests will make it impossible for any country to meet the austerity demands placed on them by the Germans or anyone representing the Germans, the Central Bank, World Bank, or the IMF. The cost of financing more Euro debt is soaring. The spreads on Credit Default Swaps (CDS), which the lending banks and brokers took out as “insurance” on their sovereign debt holdings, are widening to the point where these heavily leveraged financial shenanigans are seriously affecting their operating capital. Some didn’t have enough operating capital, so they stole their clients’ money.

With these Dead Banks Walking, how safe do you think your investment accounts are? Who will be the next to step up to the bailout plate? How many more brokerages will go belly up due to their “well-timed insight” and “unwavering vision?” Will the Occupy Wall Street (OWS) movement and nationwide strikes against governments be the things that finally bring down corrupt bankers and Wall Street thieves as their crimes unravel?

Occupy Wall Street – Police Gone Wild

Down at “Occupy Wall Street,” police are going wild. Pepper spraying, arresting 700 people in one day, throwing people who are filming to the ground violently, and the NYPD announcing their “secret” $150,000,000 dollar surveillance center with soon-to-be 3,000 cameras spying on people. The police state that protects big bankers is showing its true colors. Whether the actual NYPD police officers on the street personally side with the protesters or the banking cartel is not the issue. The core issue is that the police have a job. If they stood by the principles they swore to when becoming an officer, they would be protesting also and not protecting banker criminals. They would be arresting banker criminals.

Occupy Wall Street – Banks Paying For Protection

Like the lowly shopkeeper in the neighborhood who pays the Mafia, bankers are now paying the police for protection. JPMorgan Chase “donated” an unprecedented $4.6 million to the New York City Police Foundation, telling them “how much we value their hard work.” This is called the protection racket. This shows that bankers are scared and believe they need protecting. Watch for more banks to do the same. Now, the leadership of police departments, who are controlled by politicians, who are in turn, controlled by the corporations making the “donations” to the police, do what they are told to do. Protect these corrupt criminal organizations that are ruining people’s lives, the economies, and the financial systems of the world at all costs. These criminals need to survive at all costs so they can continue extracting wealth from people, cities, states, and countries around the world through their evil schemes and bullying tactics. Criminal bankers will not stop until they control the entire world and every person and country is a debt slave to them.

Occupy Wall Street – Crime As Usual For Bankers

While the TV news focuses on all the “distractions” going on down in the streets, the bankers looking down at the peasants from their impenetrable castles, continue their “business as usual” crimes…paying themselves multi-million dollar bonuses, borrowing near-free money from the Fed, turning that money around into massive profits, rigging the stock and commodities markets with program trading, charging customers increasing fees, complaining about regulations, taking over-leveraged investment risks with our money and losing it, getting bailed out again, lobbying for more favors, paying off the police, etc. The list of domestic and international crimes goes on and on. Protesting against them accomplishes nothing. At best, it gives over-educated, unemployed, and deep-in-student-loan-debt people something to do. 

So, what now? If protesting doesn’t work, what is the answer? Even though the protests are growing across the country, will they change the behavior of these international bankster criminals?

Radical Change Is Now Affecting The World

Radical change is the event that is now affecting the World most. Many people don’t see it as good change, but as unwelcome change. In terms of real change, more change is happening now in the world than at any other time in our lifetimes. Only those who were alive during the Great Depression remember times being this tough and changing this radically.

Needed Change Is Now Affecting The World

Although the change affecting the World is needed, it is not wanted. Not wanted, that is, by the greedy power-mongers of world banking, international corporations, and military-industrial complexes who are trying to control the resources, wealth, food, land, governments, and all citizens of the world. The needed change is wanted by citizens who want their resources, land, crops, wealth, health and jobs returned to them.

Desired Change Is Now Affecting The World

Some enlightened people look at world events happening and see these events as desired change affecting the world in good ways, not bad. These events are what’s needed, have been predicted, and looked forward to by many. In a way, it’s like moving day. There is a lot of breakdown and chaos leading up to, and including moving day. But when you get everything to your new destination without too much damage, you get to arrange it in your new surroundings just the way you want to. Once you have abandoned the old structures and systems and started fresh and anew – only then will you be able to see how the old normal didn’t serve you.

Runaway Change Is Now Affecting The World

Affecting the World will be runaway change. By “runaway” it is meant that people, if given the chance, will run away from the old ways of doing things, while those who are losing control will try to stop them. A more positive way to state it would be “running toward change.” Regardless of how you look at it, the change is radical and is affecting the world. 

So, it sounds like we have to go through all these radical, stressful change events in the world in order to start over and build new systems? But how do we address the pain involved? We seem like victims of all the change events happening and not benefactors.

Monday, August 1, 2011 is the last chance to save the American Economy. You see Mercury goes retrograde on Tuesday and the American economy could face its first default. At this point, only one thing is for sure…Mercury is going retrograde and any compromised contracts, agreements, negotiations, proposals, and new plans are destined to fail miserably. You see, the Wall Street and corporate-controlled politicos are hung up on doing what’s good for them and their handlers instead of doing what’s good for the country.

Last Chance To Save The American Economy Was 1993

Bill Clinton and Al Gore had a chance to preserve America’s greatness in the world in 1993 but chose to push NAFTA down the throats of Congress. The North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) was supposed to eliminate barriers to allow offshoring of jobs so US corporations could generate larger profits by accessing cheap foreign labor. This “new economy” would grow and raise American’s standard of living. Those old, archaic manufacturing jobs would be replaced by new jobs in the service sector, especially on Wall Street and in the financial sector. How’s this working out so far?

Last Chance To Save The American Economy – Bring Back Jobs

If you want to save the American Economy, you have to bring back jobs. The jobs that NAFTA exported never came back and as soon as the new service sector economy started growing, instead of providing new jobs for Americans, companies exported all their support and customer service jobs to India. Cheap goods flooded the world and nobody wanted to buy – or could afford – expensive American products…not even Americans. The old economy was gone and there was nothing to take its place.

The last chance America had to save the economy was Ross Perot in the 1992 Presidential election. Perot, a self-made billionaire businessman who didn’t need money, kickbacks, or bribes from corporations or Wall Street, explained it all in clear detail to the American public while President Bush and Bill Clinton glared at him on stage.

Last Chance To Save The American Economy – Take Every Last Penny From Americans

Some politicians think that the last chance to save the American economy is to take every last penny from Americans. God forbid that during this debt debate circus presently going on, that anyone would suggest slashing foreign aid, cutting the military budget, ending all useless wars immediately, or implement a fair tax system across the board for everyone including corporations. No, squabbling politicians acting like little brats, are trying to take “entitlements” away from people who can afford it the least – the American people.  Meanwhile, the corporate elite, Wall Street criminals, welfare cheats, illegal immigrants, and tax cheats continue to live off hard-working Americans who pay their taxes and are being told to “tighten their belts.” Americans may decide this current system is not worth saving.

Can You Say, “Overwhelmed?”

Here’s a short-list of events going on in the world right now: economic meltdown, volcanic eruptions, mega-earthquakes, tsunamis, nuclear disasters, rising sea levels, climate change – global warming or possibly another ice age, clean water shortages, droughts, wildfires, rising food prices, food shortages, religious conflict, crop failures, increasing pollution, oil spills, political infighting, drug gangs taking over countries, countries and states defaulting on their debt, extinction of species, austerity measures and higher taxes, civil disorder in the streets, corrupt dictators being overthrown, dictators being replaced by worse leaders, a real estate market that continues to decline, infrastructure erosion, increasing education costs, higher health care premiums, international banking cartels controlling governments, battles over resources, wars over ideologies, the earth’s axis is tipping, two suns are setting in the West, unemployment is rising, it’s hurricane season again, and a huge comet has entered our solar system’s orbits and will pass close to the earth in the fall. So, with all this going on, what’s the good news in the headlines? Apple will start making its new iPhone in August, Lindsay Lohan had her ankle bracelet removed and is no longer under house detention, and Jennifer Aniston wore a “glittery little black minidress” to her movie premier.

Why The World Is In Trouble

It’s not hard to see why the world is in trouble. Life-changing events are happening all around us and, rather than working together to save our civilization from further deterioration and possible extinction, we hold onto our flawed ideological, political, philosophical and religious notions. Worse yet, we try forcing them onto others. To watch the world’s politicians chase each other around in circles going nowhere is similar to a NASCAR race – traveling in circles, accomplishing nothing, and ending up in the same place you started. . . only further in debt financially and morally.  

The Happy News Channel

People wouldn’t watch a news channel that only had happy or non-controversial news. World events reported in the news have conditioned them to violence, greed, corruption, crime, war, drugs, envy and controversy. People seem fascinated by acts of destruction, bombings, Mother Nature out of control, criminal programs, reality shows, and rioting after sporting events. And they expect to be entertained by the news no matter how bad it is. All happening somewhere else, to someone else – well, guess what?… it’s happening to you only you may not know it yet. Not owning a TV won’t isolate you from it or make it go away. So now what do you do?

With the recovery underway, there’s never been a better time to spend your money. Go out and buy a new car (May auto sales were down); snap up one of those “bargain” properties from the bank (home prices started double-dipping a month ago); take that dream vacation (it may be your last); and send your kid to college (they may not find a job, owe endless student loans, and be forced into military service to pay off those loans). The stock market is rallying (the Dow and S&P had its worst day today since last August). And all this bad news is just in the U.S.

Around the world there is growing unemployment, skyrocketing food prices, a growing real estate crisis, countries unable to pay their sovereign debt requiring more bailouts, and increasing civil unrest is leading to governments being overthrown with the possibility of being replaced by a more corrupt regime or religious fundamentalists with their stone age beliefs. And we’re in a worldwide recovery and progressing as a species?

More spending seems to be the answer to everything. Raise the debt ceiling, increase military spending, spend more on your credit cards, liquidate that IRA to pay for college, invest what you have left in the stock market, drive to the mall in your new car, buy a rental property, and more. Why?…because that’s what we do – we consume things. We’re called consumers.

Like someone who overeats and then feels terrible the next day, countries will keep spending until they burst. Painful austerity measures being forced onto citizens in some countries doesn’t mean those governments have slowed down their spending one bit. Governments are caught in a cycle of spending just like banks are caught in a cycle of reckless speculation after causing the financial crisis in the first place.

Why are world leaders talking about global economic recovery and not global collapse of economies?

Now with that mission accomplished, and increasing friction between the Kabul government and the U.S., is there a reason for 140,000 troops to remain there any longer? Will Pakistan and others eliminate their support of the Taliban in Afghanistan now that bin Laden is gone? Will al Qaeda leave Afghanistan? And will the Afghan military ever be able to provide security to their country? Or will the death of Osama bin Laden, this religious warlord figurehead, make any difference at all in the region? Does his death mean that al Qaeda and/or the Taliban will just quit fighting or will fighting take on a renewed intensity now that warmer weather is coming to the region? Are there others in line waiting to assume his throne? Will it make any difference to the U.S. military who is the figurehead in command or does everyone just move up a slot on the target list? Ten years is a long time to chase someone around on the other side of the world. Will it be another 10 years before the region is stabilized and able to govern itself in peace? What will Osama bin Laden’s legacy become? Will the world become a safer place now that he’s gone?
