How To Heal Your Technology Addictions

While at times this person can perform very efficiently, seeming to have everything under control, at other times they can be annoying, withdrawn, and seem technically holier-than-thou. Who are they? They’re that techno-gadget geek who camps out overnight to be one of the first people to buy the latest, overpriced, piece of technology so they can “communicate” better. We live in times when, instead of calling your best friends and telling them what you’ve been doing or how your vacation was, you update your Facebook page. You think that email is for geezers. You Tweet and text so much, you’re thumbs are numb. Just like they were when you were addicted to video games. Face it, you are a techno-addict. An addict who carries their “fix” around in their pocket or purse and gets easily distracted from life with tens of thousands of “apps” to pick from? Do you feel “connected” to the world because you Tweet out everything you are doing all day long?…brushing the cat, getting your car washed, at the grocery store in the soup aisle, or having toast for breakfast? You never felt compelled to tell anyone about these things before portable technology existed, did you? Nor, would you consider this to be a “relationship.” Using technology, have you developed eye strain or carpal tunnel syndrome? How about withdrawal from social interactions? Do you get a sense of euphoria from using technology? If so, you have a technology addiction. It Takes A Lot Of Green To Be Green

We provide Survival News Predictions to help you overcome any fear of the future you may have and empower you to prepare for what’s coming… Technology helped fuel the economic boom of the 1990’s. Then came the dot.com bust and technology took the blame for starting the recession in the early 2000’s. Wall Street caused the recession this time, so why do people keep saying that technology can be counted on to save the economy? Are people and companies going out and investing in technology like they did in the ‘90’s causing the boom? Hardly. Other than 20 and 30-somethings running out to by the newest iPhone, people aren’t falling over themselves to invest in technology. There always seems to be a new technology wave to catch that’s going to give us the ride of our lives. Youngsters with shaky business plans received hundreds of millions of dollars for their Internet ideas where they planned to lose a lot of money while they were growing quickly so they could later turn those big visitor numbers into a moneymaker. Web companies stocks soared. Part of the problem though was that nobody knew how to value these new types of businesses. Then, high-profile dot.coms failed, interest rates started to rise, and debt crippled the optimism of this new internet technology boom. The Nasdaq, heavily tech-laden, imploded and each day another big tech player was announcing layoffs. In recent times, we’ve witnessed the IT revolution, the dot.com bubble, a biotech bubble that didn’t cure any diseases, and nanotech hysteria on a grand scale. Now some people think that “green” technology will be the savior of the economy and get us off dependence on foreign oil. Green technology encompasses many things. There’s solar, wind, hydro, bio-fuels, electric cars, hybrid cars, and others. Interest and support for green projects runs hot and cold. When oil was $140 a barrel and looking like it was going to go higher, everybody was gung ho on alternative energy. Now, with the economy suffering and oil half that price, governments, corporations, and people aren’t that willing to start investing in green. Many projects are being canceled even though they received grants and subsidies. Nobody is spending. Everybody is conserving money. Very few people are going to run out and buy a $50,000 – $100,000 electric car. Plus, what if electricity becomes more expensive than gasoline? What if it’s even the same price? Would you drive that old fossil-fuel 6 cylinder or worry about if you have enough charge in your car to make it home? What if the grid implodes from everyone plugging in their cars at the same time? When difficult times hit, people are always looking for what is going to save the economy. Technology, with all its mystery, seems to be what people flock to for hope. Apple The Technology Company Of The Future

We provide Survival News Predictions to help you overcome any fear of the future you may have and empower you to prepare for what’s coming… The demand for Apple’s new iPhone 4 was so great that Apple had to apologize to the many customers who were unable to get their order in. So many people tried ordering an Apple iPhone 4 that both Apple’s and AT&T’s web sites buckled. Even with all the troubles, Apple took orders for 600,000 new phones! The order rate was ten times the order rate at the announcement of the last iPhone 3GS and 13 million AT&T users also requested upgrade eligibility. Apple’s stock is certainly reflecting their success as it continues on an upward climb. It is always a risk being a technology company that “pushes the envelope” on development and doesn’t wait for somebody else to invent the technology and then try to just improve on it. By being an innovator, Apple risks a lot up front. What if the product is a flop? Remember the Lisa? Apple seems to have enough rabid fans to sell a lot of units of most products. And what happens after all the cult followers buy? Although the cult followers are the early adopters of new Apple products, with Apple growing their new customer base so rapidly, it looks like the cult is growing at sizable proportions and they are not about to run out of new converts or people to buy new products anytime soon … Go ahead with your predictions and commentary…

A Computer Took My Job

Most people didn’t believe it at the time, but can see how that prediction came true now. First, repetitive task jobs were sent overseas. Then came computerized machinery that did high-precision tasks that only skilled, licensed machinists previously did. Next, robots began assembling things as big as cars and as small as watches. With machines doing the work, watching the machine became a new job. Then, when a computer could watch the machine, these types of assembly lines were set up overseas. A person or machine can just as easily put four screws in an assembly in another country for .10 cents an hour as a person can in the US for $25.00 per hour or more. Technology turned industrialized countries into service, financial and information societies. The technology jobs that were left – mainly in computer hardware and software – are now also leaving the Western countries. As jobs go to emerging-economy countries, these countries become industrialized and the cycle starts again. Technology is the driving force behind job loss in industrialized countries. Apple saves the newspaper business

In 2006, Apple’s revenues were $25B. In 2009, Apple’s revenue was $43B; 72% growth in three years! During the same period, Microsoft’s revenues went up 32%, Cisco was up 28%, and Intel’s revenues were flat for that same time of period. What is interesting is that these three companies’ stocks have greatly underperformed Apple’s stock. Also, each of these companies spends 4 – 5 times more money on R&D than Apple does. Apple was also able to surpass Research In Motion, a leader in smart phones, in revenues in 2009 and the iPhone didn’t even exist until 2007. The Internet the hot technology of the future

Recently, we read a Success Magazine interview from 1988 with Bill Gates. In the article, Bill talked about using technology as a creative tool. The interviewer asked Bill how the teams at Microsoft fostered creativity and stayed creative. Bill’s answer was that they used cutting-edge technology to share ideas and make the company more creative. This new technology they used was “electronic mail.” It was used to share ideas, to foster interaction between teams and individuals, and to bring ideas out into the open in order to speed up the development process on new products. Everyone was encouraged to share their ideas. Creative people with the best ideas were then promoted up through the company.
