Life As A Coach – Mentors and Heroes Or Creeps and Pedophiles?

Recently, there has been a rash of sexual abuse allegations against coaches making the news. Abuses that apparently have been going on for years and, in some instances, decades. What’s even more incredulous is that people witnessed the abuse and didn’t report it or when they tried reporting it they were stifled in their efforts. These abuses have taken place at small private prep schools, public schools, prominent universities, and even at Olympic training programs. While thousands of cases of abuse happen year-after-year, few come to light. While most of us can remember a coach or teacher who made a strong impression on us growing up, some of us unfortunately remember one who violated our youth and trust and scarred us emotionally.
