“We see several trends developing in real estate. We see an obsession with downsizing gaining momentum – downsizing everything; your lifestyle, your home, your car, your expenses… everything. Some people will move to another country in order to downsize and escape the high cost of living. Those who remain in America will miniaturize their lifestyle. People will still want the same luxuries and amenities that they’ve become accustomed to just on a smaller scale. As the value of real estate continues to decline more people will be pushed under water on their mortgage who can readily afford them. This is different from a sub-prime mortgage crisis where people who shouldn’t have been allowed to purchase a home in the first place got a mortgage knowing that they soon wouldn’t be able to pay.”
