Eventually Mexico’s GDP will be severely affected. Companies will discover that they must spend more money every year on security and that will erode profits. Security of their facilities, their trucks and their people will become a major expense. Now you can’t ship at night unless you pay off the cartels and even transporting during the daylight hours is risky even if the military is patrolling the roads. This riskier transportation of goods is causing companies’ insurance rates to increase, cutting further into profits.
