And the count goes up daily. Cities and towns that used to boom with industry and commerce have been shattered. The violence has reached the point where you have to question the government’s ability to maintain enough security to keep these businesses in Mexico and attract new business to the region.
Already, international companies have changed their minds about building new facilities in Mexico and have gone elsewhere in Latin America to expand. Even cities that have up to now escaped serious drug violence are now exposed to it. Killings are running more than 200% higher year-over-year from 2010.
In addition to the killings which involve torture, beheadings, and other grisly circumstances, kidnappings, robberies of businesses in broad daylight, extortion, carjacking, and hijacking of oil tankers have become booming businesses. The cartels, flush with hundreds of millions in cash are able to purchase sophisticated military-grade weapons, explosives, and state-of-the-art communications technology from many countries and smuggle them into Mexico to be used against the government and other cartels.
How long will it be before these cartels are operating within the US as brazenly as they do in Mexico? As states lack the resources for basic services and cutbacks are rampant, will our border states become the cartel’s next battlefield?
We would ask our Higher Intelligence source to bring through their predictions and commentary on this and anything else they see as relevant to Terrorism at this time.
