An 8.9 magnitude earthquake hit Japan this week followed by a highly-destructive tsunami of immense proportions that slammed into Japan and then moved across the Pacific at 500 mph causing devastating damage to Hawaii, California and Oregon. In Japan, thousands have been killed and tens of thousands are missing. Five nuclear power plants were damaged and two have exploded so far, triggering fear of a nuclear meltdown. In recent times, we’ve witnessed weather and earth change chaos of biblical proportions causing apocalyptic destruction. Russia had the greatest heat wave and destructive wildfires in over 1,000 years. Central Europe experienced its greatest flooding in over 800 years. Thousands died in catastrophic flooding in China. Flooding in Pakistan was so epic that it was called a mega-disaster and worse than the tsunami that hit the Indian Ocean region in 2004 that killed over 200,000 people. Japan had a heat wave that was so bad that over 21,000 people had to be taken to hospitals for heatstroke. At the other end of the thermometer, temperatures were so low in the western United States that fruit and vegetable crops were destroyed. Winter was so cold in South America that millions of fish were killed in Bolivia and thousands of cattle froze to death in Brazil, as well as hundreds of people. Catastrophic droughts in Africa are threatening tens of thousands of people with starvation. These earth change events all have several things in common. They seem to be turbo-charged… stronger than normal, last longer than usual, and cause magnitudes of damage greater than similar events of their kind in the past. It’s as if the universe is trying to get our attention and using Mother Nature as its messenger. Is the destruction of resources – food, energy, timber, fish and animals, and others – a signal to us that we consume and waste too much? Do we need to develop technology in the future rather than exploit nature? Has our consumption and greed replaced bonds of community with all mankind and respect for a natural world harmony? In a desirable New World Order, countries would share their resources with other countries or trade them for what they needed…a barrel of oil for a bushel of grain, or mineral resources for medicines. In the end, it will be man’s greed and not weather or earth changes that bring us down, possibly triggering the next Great War over resources. In the meantime, these weather events and earth changes can only contribute to the inflationary pressures in the economy and the chaos imposed on man. Food shortages will lead to food riots, oil shortages will lead to gas riots, and water shortages will lead water riots until shortages will justify military action against another country to kill or subjugate people and steal their resources.
