In 2006, Apple’s revenues were $25B. In 2009, Apple’s revenue was $43B; 72% growth in three years! During the same period, Microsoft’s revenues went up 32%, Cisco was up 28%, and Intel’s revenues were flat for that same time of period. What is interesting is that these three companies’ stocks have greatly underperformed Apple’s stock. Also, each of these companies spends 4 – 5 times more money on R&D than Apple does. Apple was also able to surpass Research In Motion, a leader in smart phones, in revenues in 2009 and the iPhone didn’t even exist until 2007.
