What do you think is the biggest obstacle to self improvement? The answer is you. People’s confidence or lack of confidence is the largest obstacle keeping people from improving. The subconscious believes what it hears and it hears a lot of negative self talk. It is this negative self talk that becomes ingrained in a person’s beliefs. These negative beliefs become cemented in over years and possibly decades. Recently a politician ran a campaign on the slogan, “yes we can.” Do you think a politician that ran with a slogan of “no we can’t” could win? It was the repetition of the positive phrase, “yes we can” that made people believers that they could. When you go to a book store why do you think that section is called Self Help? It’s because you are the only one responsible for your own improvement. Sure there are some teachers out there and some valuable books, but you must make the decision to improve and then put into motion the necessary actions to achieve that improvement. You must take all the negative self talk and turn it into positive self talk. People spend much more time telling others how they should be than telling themselves how they should be.
